PACKING
Packaging consists of an outer shipping carton enclosing a very high quality drawer tray inside an image sleeve. Two different exhaust pipe extensions are included with the model and one must be installed. The box has some details of the real truck. A Diecast Masters Transport Series mini booklet is included.
DETAIL
The chassis has the engine, gearbox and transmission detailed in plastic, but it looks good. The chrome tanks and cases are shiny and there are soft mud flaps. The plastic wheels are detailed and there are different tires on the different types of axles.
The front grille is very good and there is a small Peterbilt badge and logo on the top. The lights and front bumper also look good, although there is no license plate as this is a generic model.
The cabin has modeled door handles and there are no windows in the doors. The mirrors are plastic and the steps are textured. The exhaust pipe is detailed, and inside the cabin, the seats have the Peterbilt logo printed on them.
There are a number of lights on the roof and the lift piston for the dumper is multi-stage with two of the stages modeled in heavy duty gray plastic which doesn't look as good.
The dump body is metal with plastic ladders on the front and red and white graphic details on the bottom edges. The upper wooden edge is modeled in plastic. The tailgate has the grain flap modeled in a simple non-functional manner. The easy lid mechanism is modeled including the lid material, but is not functional.
CHARACTERISTICS
The front steering has a limited range of motion and the model rolls well. The push shaft has excellent steering and can be lifted out of service. The hood tilts forward by about 45° and can be posed in an inclined position. The engine is detailed below.
The cabin doors can be opened at a reasonable angle.
The dump body can be lifted but the mechanism is very rigid. The maximum angle seems a little less than what the real truck can achieve. The tailgate opens but does not open freely and has a limited opening angle.
QUALITY
This model is of good quality with plastic used on the smaller parts of the chassis, the paint and graphics are of high quality.
PRICE
It is a reasonable value.
